Why a profile area?
In a world with growing tensions, human rights are very important. In 2023, Lund University launched the Human Rights Profile Area to boost its unique research and education in this field. The goal is to improve people’s living conditions and help solve global challenges.
Researchers of the profile area focus on global human rights issues and analyse and promote human rights as important tools for justice. They work together across different fields of study to achieve this.
Why is it important to work across academic disciplines?
Interdisciplinary research on human rights is very important because it combines different viewpoints, methods, and skills. This profile area brings together researchers and teachers from fields like law, humanities, theology, social sciences, economics, medicine, technology, and the arts.
Using an interdisciplinary approach helps tackle complex human rights issues by looking at the social, economic, and political reasons behind rights violations. When different fields work together, they can create new solutions, improve policies, and better understand how to protect and promote human rights in different cultures and around the world.
Our researchers also work closely with local, national, and international organizations to develop methods, policies, and strategies that help secure human rights and create a fairer, more democratic world.
