Conference: Method and Human Rights – Education in a Time of Societal Change | 23-24 October 2025| Uppsala University
Uppsala University arranges the second conference of the Network Human Rights in Higher Education. The conference draws attention to the role of methodology teaching in preparing students for their future professional lives – both within academia and in society at large. The program includes inspirational lectures, workshops, and joint reflections with participants from academia, public authorities, and civil society. Ther following things will be discussed:
- Why, when, and how we teach methodology in human rights education
- Relationships between methodology, theory, and philosophy of science
- Students’ need for methodological knowledge in an interdisciplinary context
- How we can develop approaches that meet contemporary demands and students’ needs
The main conference language will be Swedish.

About the network:
At the 2023 International Conference on Human Rights in Higher Education the idea was born to found an International Network Human Rights in Higher Education. The network is still in the beginning stages. The Swedish university partners are Uppsala University, the University College Stockholm, Lund University and the University of Gothenburg.

The conference is primarily aimed at educators and program coordinators in higher education with a human rights focus in Sweden – at both undergraduate and advanced levels – but others who are interested are also welcome, subject to availability.
