Human Rights PhD Career Conversation
Join a casual networking event to connect with two PhDs from Lund University who have transitioned to careers outside academia within human rights. Take the opportunity to ask them about their professional journeys.
Guests will be:
Andrea Karlsson, expert in human rights and democratization currently working as Senior Programme Manager at the European Endowment for Democracy in Brussels. Andrea previously worked for the Swedish MFA as the head of the Section for Turkish-Swedish Cooperation at the Consulate General of Sweden in Istanbul. Andrea has a PhD in Human Rights Studies from Lund University and has been a Visiting Assistant in Research at Yale University’s Center for Cultural Sociology and Resident Fellow at the Swedish Research Institute in Istanbul.
Anna Nilsson, Legal analyst (utredare) at the Swedish Institute for Human Rights and Faculty of Law, with a PhD at the Faculty of Law. Anna Nilsson is currently taking a leave from her academic work as associate senior lecturer at Lund University Faculty of Law to work at the Swedish Institute for Human Rights. Prior to embarking on an academic career, Anna has worked for several years as a lawyer at the Swedish Equality Ombudsman and as legal advisor to the Council of Europe's Commissioner for Human Rights in Strasbourg.
